The ferry ride to Sardinia was scenic and only took about an hour. We got off the ferry and went looking for the bus terminal. We started off on the right track but took a wrong turn that led us on a scenic tour of downtown Santa Teresa di Gallura. After getting directions from a very friendly woman at a bar in the main square that was playing Billy Idol's greatest hits, we found the bus terminal only to watch our bus to Olbia pull away. So back to the main square we went where we hit the tourist office for additional bus info and a map. Then on to the "tabacchi" next door for the bus tickets. After an hour, we headed back to the bus terminal and finally started our progress toward Olbia where our rental car awaited. The bus ride was a bit slow but thanks to a very helpful rental car agent who kept the office open late we got our car a Fiat Panda, manual of course. After a short review of the automobile essentials, luckily we are still in a right hand drive country, we headed out on the dark, curvaceous Sardinian roads to our home for the week in Tanca Manna. Sherrie did an awesome job behind the wheel as I did my best to navigate us safely home after a long and mildly stressful bit of travel. Let us put on the record right now that Sardinian road builders don't spend a lot of time making straight roads and Sardinian drivers have adapted to that reality by imitating Formula 1 drivers whenever possible. Basically, if the tires aren't squealing at least a little bit when you go around a corner you aren't doing it right.
Once we got close to our destination we stopped at a restaurant called The Cotton Club which has turned into our favorite place to eat in Sardinia. The food was excellent and the family running the place are very friendly and helpful.
By 10pm we were in the apartment and proceeded quickly to collapse into good night of sleep.
