Last full day in Paris

We got up early to take advantage of our last full day in Paris.  By 7am we were off to the metro station and heading up to Sacre-Coeur, which is an amazing church high on a hill in the neighborhood of Montmartre. We got there before sunrise hoping for some nice morning light on the white stone of the cathedral. While we didn't get a spectacular sunrise, the morning light and lack of the typical crowds gave us the opportunity for some unique photos.
After that we headed to Gare Lyon to purchase our train tickets to Toulon; which will be our first stop on the journey to Sardinia.  Navigation of the train station was a little confusing but we found the ticket office pretty quickly and got the tickets just fine.
With that task taken care of it was on to Notre Dame.  Another amazing cathedral for sure. It wasn't too crowded and mass was going on so it was a wonderful time to go.
Finishing up with photos there, we were off to meet a friend of Sherrie's who recently got married and moved to Paris.  Kayla and her husband Bastien were really wonderful and took us to a great place for brunch.  After eating we walked around their neighborhood, the Marais, checking out the sights and shops.
Our walking tour continued up the Seine to the Musee d'Orsay. This museum was filled with many wonderful paintings including some I even recognized like Whistler's Mother and Van Gough's Starry Night.

Finally we headed home. Dashing through a sudden rain shower, we found a little deli that was open and picked up a number of delicious items to take back to the flat for our last dinner in Paris.
